a) A diver of weight 650 N stands still on the diving board, 1.9 m from the pivot.  Calculate the moment of the weight of the diver about the pivot. 

 

b) Name 2 ways to lower the centre of gravity of an object. 

 

 

Answer:

a) moment of the weight of the diver about the pivot = F* pendicular distance from pivot

                                                                                            = 2*650

                                                                                            = 1300Nm

 

b) Reduce the height of the object

     Increase the mass at the base of the object.
